Air Canada to fly
nonstop to Daytona Beach
Air Canada will commence
weekend nonstop seasonal service between Toronto and Daytona Beach
International Airport beginning December 13.
“This is tremendous news for the entire region,” said Airport Director
Dennis McGee, who noted that Canadians make up the area’s largest number
of international visitors. In addition, hundreds of Canadians own property
and have relatives, friends or business connections within the region. The
area’s beaches and proximity to Central Florida’s attractions provide
added value for Canadian visitors. To complement the new service, the
airline’s tour operator subsidiary, Air Canada Vacations, plans to offer
combined air and car rental packages.
The new seasonal service
will operate Saturdays and Sundays through the spring. Air Canada’s
regional airline, Air Canada Jazz, will operate the flights using 50-seat
Canadair regional jets. McGee said inbound passengers will pre-clear U.S.
Customs in Toronto before boarding the flight to Daytona Beach. Therefore,
the flights will be able to operate from the domestic terminal in Daytona
Beach. The first flight will depart Toronto Pearson International Airport
on both days at 10:30 a.m. and arrive in Daytona Beach at 1:06 p.m. The
return flight will depart Daytona Beach at 1:40 p.m. and arrive in Toronto
at 4:10 p.m.
At the carrier’s main hub in
Toronto, Air Canada offers connecting flights to many destinations
throughout its vast network.
